united sorry @ egon schiele
united sorry had a long time wish to intensify the exhibition spaces of gustav klimt and egon schiele. During the dancenight , organised by TQW and Brut, october 2009, they had the opportunity to get in dialogue with the paintings of egon schiele at the Leopold museum.
They wanted to be there for six houres, with the public visiting the exhibition and sometimes witnessing their actions. That wasn’t posible. They just performed for an hour with the public sitting on the ground, watching their actions from minute to minute.
but still united sorry is thankful for having this opportunity. As most of the intensifiers appearances this event was in collaboration with Martin Siewert
we had some text:
a little song:
Mothers are dying
Children upset
Fathers are flying
With young girls in bed
Forests are dying
The birds are upset
Critics are lying
Contemporary art is so bad
A little story
You fell in love with art, you bought some paintings, they became your children, you were proud to have them, and every time you saw them, you discovered something new, but you lived in a time where they started to treat you as dirt, you had to leave your children behind and you, you vanished into the smoke of the gas chambers, Treblinka, Auschwitz. And now your children are hanging in this building, being exposed to millions of people who come from all over the world to be touched by them. What can these paintings do. Their creator died, when he was young, some of the first buyers died, because they were born in the wrong time, in the wrong country, with the wrong physical features in their face. So, what can these paintings do? They are like grown-up orphans, old enough to live on their own, but they always feel their traumatized past; the brutal loss of their real parents.
