cherchez la femme

It is silent in the house of Frans. He brings his kid to bed and I almost close my eyes.Today a group of visual artists visit us, to talk about further collaboration. I am wondering what I want from art & theatre. Why am I in this business, and why am I making performances. Or working with other people.
My entrance into theatre is still a shamanistic one. I only can make performance when they have a healing effect on people, or on society. That can be in a broad sense, it doesn’t need to be in a direct therapeutic way, by no means, but the intention is to show people other horizons which open up their minds or harmonize their thoughts or feelings. When the intention is not to heal, or to reveal something, then I cannot make choices in the process. Too many artist want to show their anger to the society or stick to their own pain, and that is too limited for me, there must be always a content which goes beyond the own ideas, desires or feelings to get manifested. I like when the work plays with references to traditional structures and forms, known from other cultures that can transform different energies in the collective consciousness, that can change the minds of the performers and for sure the minds and hearts of the audience.
And I am quite stubborn, also if people do not like it, what we make, I still have the confidence that it could perhaps be good for them that they saw it. A kind of arrogance you could say. Bu this attitude helps me, it makes me able to listen to the opinions of others, without immediately rejecting them, or taking them so serious that I do not se my own points anymore.
It is the same as in my private life. Without looking for a spiritual dimension I am totally lost, I feel not capable to live, to make choices and to face other people or work itself. Without a spiritual dimension I feel powerless to face the different situations of life.
So today I had this discussion with Frans, how serious do we have to take our performances in this spiritual dimension. It is the source from which I start. And when we look for the feminine perspective on life, we do not do that only to make fun of it- what perhaps a lot of people think
